The only things you need to let go off, if you want to lead a Healthy Lifestyle
This may sound extreme & it is considering how long you have been over this vicious cycle. But it's a necessary step that you need to take at all costs.
Being healthy doesn't only mean aligning to a vegetarian diet & steaming off in gyms. I mean yes that matters a lot but we completely ignore the screen-time. The light and radiations emitting out of the blue screen are extremely harmful to our health.
Wanna know what extends the amount of time you give to these screens?
Yes, you guessed it right. It is Social Media.
Social networks has the knack of making us attuned to longer than usual screen times. We keep scrolling down the feed endlessly to find something that can humor us, excite us or evokes sentiment and emotions.
In fact, research suggests that social networks are up to a significant extent responsible for activating the dopamine chemical reaction in our brain.
Social Media activates the pleasure centers of our brain, which in turn makes us happy. It making us happy makes us addicted too.
Social Media has the capability to rewire our brains for happiness. When our brain is rewired for happiness using social media, then we no longer give heed to the conventional things that long ago used to make us happy. Things like meeting acquaintances, greeting somebody, bathing in the first rain.
I can go on, but you get the picture..
2. Toxic Friends:
Friendship can turn lethal & detrimental in your combat against leading a healthy life. 9/10 people that turns towards a healthy lifestyle abandon in their first week. One of the reason they back-out is
because their friends don't buy in with the idea of leading a healthy lifestyle.
You are used to the idea of hanging with your friends, having all sorts of healthy, gluten overloaded, sugar overloaded & cancerous food almost on a regular basis.
The only way to overcome this is being emotionally intelligent to not let the impulses get the best of you.
The strategy isn't to lose friends all together, just detach yourselves out of indulging in junk food abuse. Politely turn down the offer. Spend time with your friends socializing instead. Don't preach health tips if your friends are ignorant & feels exasperated hearing another heath tips talk.
Don't argue, reason instead.
If your friends are explicitly trying to make you fall back to unhealthy eating habits, then it's high time considering to sever ties with such toxic people.
3. Chemicals disguised as Nutritious Fruit Juice:
Market is swarming with products that are detrimental to health but are cleverly marketed in a way that it is projected as the healthiest alternative.
Tetra Pack Fruit Juice does not contain the actual fruit juice. I Understand that the commercial promises otherwise. In the commercials they show that they are putting actual pulp extract in your packaged juice, but it's not true. All it contains is chemicals, preservatives and flavors.
4. Say No to Caffeine:
Caffeine is a very addictive substance that is present in carbonated drinks like Coca Cola, Pepsi and Coffee.
The only reason why it has enormous supply is because it is induced with Caffeine &
Sugar. Both being extremely addictive.
A little caffeine can't hurt you, like when you consume little amounts on Black Coffee with No Sugar for like 2X a day.
5. Say NO to Intoxication:
This might seem obvious, but needs to said loud and clear. Intoxication like Cigarette, Alcohol & other substances puts us in a state that is unreal.
The yearning for more of being immersed in that state disconnects us more and more from the reality. There are end number of health hazards but more damage is done to the mind that anything else.
Your mind is what keeps everything intact & if your mind is under the manipulation of substances then everything else is bound to crumble down.
This wrecks your work, finances, relationships & life in general.
6. Eradicate Cognitive Dissonance systematically:
Wikipedia defines it as,
cognitive dissonance is the mental discomfort (psychological stress) experienced by a person who holds two or more contradictory beliefs, ideas, or values. This discomfort is triggered by a situation in which a person’s belief clashes with new evidence perceived by the person. When confronted with facts that contradict beliefs, ideals, and values, people will try to find a way to resolve the contradiction to reduce their discomfort.
This is predominant in every walks of life & more so in DIY Healthy Lifestyle.
Today with the growing emergence of internet, people don't check the facts & succumbs to information overload that cause mental fatigue.
As long as healthy tips are concerned there millions of blog post on the same topic.
There is bound to be contradiction that will rattle you and sidetrack you.
It's probably better to organize the resources from which you plan to educate yourself & strictly align yourself to those resources only.
